Everstake, a Kyiv-based staking service platform, announced today it has joined the Neo3 TestNet Preview1 as a consensus node operator. This marks the beginning of decentralization for Neo3.
As of June 2019, the Neo Foundation is no longer maintaining any consensus node on the Neo2 TestNet. Currently, the seven consensus nodes on Neo2 are operated by KPN, Swisscom, Neo Global Development, MatPool, City of Zion, Red4Sec, and NeoSPCC.
“We are glad to welcome Everstake as one of our consensus nodes on the Neo3 Preview1 TestNet. As Neo3 accelerates, we appreciate the help from the ecosystem to facilitate Neo’s development and the decentralization process.”
– Erik Zhang, founder and core developer of Neo
Launched back in September 2019, the Neo3 Preview1 TestNet is now available for download on GitHub. For more info on improvements and optimizations, see the Neo3 Preview1 documentation.
Neo3
When more Neo3 Preview versions become available, the current and new consensus nodes will gradually join the Neo3 TestNet. According to Neo’s consensus node approval mechanism, a minimum test-run period of six months is required before a consensus node applicant becomes qualified to host a consensus node on the Neo MainNet. This process aims to ensure the performance and stability of the Neo3 MainNet once launched later this year.
“Our team has successfully deployed a consensus node in the Neo3 Preview1 TestNet, which paves the way for all the network to test and apply all necessary updates as well as different features. The new update brings many positive changes to the network, starting from architecture optimization, stability improvements, performance enhancements, and others. Everstake will support the Neo3 Preview1 TestNet with all required technical and human resources so that the network could make a faster transition to the new version of the protocol which will benefit hundreds of thousands of Neo users.”
– Sergii Vasylchuk, CEO and Founder of Everstake
