HDR Global Trading Limited (HDR), the company behind cryptocurrency derivatives trading platform, BitMEX, has appointed Derek Gobel as the group’s General Counsel.
Derek will oversee the group’s legal function. He brings over 28 years’ experience working on a broad range of legal matters, most recently as BNP Paribas’ General Counsel for APAC.
In 2017, he was also recognized in The Legal 500’s GC Powerlist in China and Hong Kong.

In August, the company restricted access for the jurisdictions in which HDR-affiliated employees and offices are located, including: Seychelles, Hong Kong, and Bermuda. Hiring a General Counsel will help BitMEX navigate the best way forward for operation.
