Today, it was announced from crypto exchange, Bitstamp, the launch of its own Lightning Network node. Bitstamp “believes Lightning may be the next big step for bitcoin and wants to do its part to foster adoption of this amazing technology.”
A Lightning Network node is software that connects to the Lightning Network to send and receive bitcoin from other nodes. The network is made up uniquely from these nodes connecting to each other.
By running its own Lightning Network node, the exchange company wants to help the network grow and encourage other companies to start working with Lightning as well.
The Lightning Network has great potential to unlock new use cases for bitcoin. It opens up a range of options for commerce and micropayments, which can greatly improve the utility of bitcoin as a medium of exchange.
