BitMEX, a leading cryptocurrency derivatives exchange who announced last week they won’t be supporting Bitcoin Cash will begin in just a few short hours temporary withdrawal suspensions.
The below precautionary measures are being put in place to mitigate possible technical issues with the UASF and UAHF flag dates coming up tomorrow on August 1st, combined with the many new Bitcoin clients in use at this time.
In order to ensure the safety of customers’ Bitcoin deposits, the following will take effect starting on 31 July 2017 13:00 UTC after withdrawals have been processed:
- Deposits will only be credited after 6 network confirmations.
- Withdrawals will be halted until further notice.
BitMEX says the wallet suspension and higher confirmation threshold will be removed once the company is confident in the stability and safety of the Bitcoin network, they are not expecting a long suspension of withdrawals.
UPDATE: UAHF Wallet Suspension Concluded
As the Bitcoin network is stable, BitMEX has processed outstanding withdrawals and deposits have been reverted from 6 confirmations back to 1.
Withdrawals also began to proceed as of August 2nd.
